Nearly 2000 unemployed youth trained under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana so far

DIMAPUR — The N. F. Railway has trained a total of 1920 unemployed youth under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY) since the scheme was launched in September, 2021 till December, 2023.

The Railways is imparting technical training to unemployed youths in various trades, including fitter, electrician, welder, machinist, mechatronics, AC mechanic, concreting, track laying and basics of information technology and signalling, and telecommunication in Indian Railways at its six training institutes

There is no provision for providing employment to the trainees but the skill development programme will enhance employability of the youth besides improving the skills of the self-employed those working with contractors, said an update from N. F. Railway.

According to the update, the total number of youth trained till date included 554 in the current financial year, and that the Railways is planning to induct more trainees in the last quarter.
