NE Taekwondo championship underway at Karimganj

Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The three-day 4th Northeast Taekwondo Championship, 2018 organised by Karimganj District Taekwondo Association (KDTA) under the aegis of Northeast East Taekwondo Union (NETU) got underway on Monday at DSA, Karimganj.
232 players and 25 technical officials from the six Northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland and SSB team are taking part in the championship.
Addressing the inaugural function as the chief guest, Lok MP Sabha Karimganj, Assam, Radhasham Biswas appreciated the Northeast East Taekwondo Union (NETU) for bringing the championship to the small township of Karimganj and hoped the players have a pleasant stay in town.
He also said that the people of Northeast have tremendous potential to earn laurels in game of Taekwondo at the higher level and wished the championship a very successful one.
NETU President Pele Khezhie, in his address extended the warmest New Year’s greeting to all and thanked the God Almighty for guiding the union to organise the championship at Karimganj, Assam.
On his own behalf and on behalf of his esteemed colleagues of NETU, Khezhie extended the heartiest gratitude and appreciation to the Karimganj District Taekwondo Association affiliated to All Assam Taekwondo Association for hosting the championship.
Former Assam Minister Gautam Roy, North Karimganj MLA Kamalakia Dev Purkhayasta and office bearers of various Taekwondo association attended the inaugural programme.
Bouts in different categories of cadet, junior and senior category for both boys and girls were on till the filing of this report.
