NE Origins to make products from NE India available to the World

Dimapur, July 18 (EMN): NE Origins, an online market site, has promised to make exquisite and authentic products of the north-eastern states ranging from varieties of tea, pickles both for the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian communities as well as fabrics, silks and wool, available to consumers.

The website, which was already launched, began sales on July 17. NE Origins, the erstwhile NE Taxi, was a pioneer of holiday taxi and a leading travel company of Northeast India. It has ventured into e-commerce to help small home-grown/ cottage industries in the Northeast during times of Covid-19.

NE Origins also took up the new initiative as small businesses and brands have been suffering the consequences of the pandemic.

“NE Origins arrived on the stage with a revolutionary platform of gathering all the smaller businesses in the market (strictly within the NE Region) to form a marketplace that could fill the vacuum created in the market right now,” an update from the organisers stated on Saturday.

“We have gathered over artisans, farmers, SHGs, cottage industries and entrepreneurs of the north east, each state, each city, and provided roof to their products on our website @ www.neorigins.com. The versatile ranges of products that are made from the NER, by the north-eastern people and for the entire world, are sure to capture many hearts,” the statement read.

For quality products, it added that NE Origins has handpicked the best in terms of quality and diversity.

The products included exciting varieties of tea from all the states of the Northeast India, pickles “100% herbal products” for skin with unique flavours.

The site is opened to companies and brands that belonged to the Northeast and run by people from the region, the statement added.

“Not much recognition is given to north-eastern entrepreneurs and the wonderful products they make. So we have taken this initiative to introduce north-east globally and help small scale entrepreneurs by providing them a platform to list their products so that buyers all over India can know about them and the amazing products they make,” said team leader Shreya Upreti.

“We are trying to help such entrepreneurs because we know how talented these entrepreneurs are and the hard work and pain they go through to build such products and because they do not have a platform to sell such products they get demotivated and frustrated,” she added.

She further encouraged all the “potential products” within the Northeast to come forward and join the initiative.

“Our endeavour is to give the Northeast of India the recognition that was long due and a strong economical backbone in the times of this pandemic,” Upreti stated.

The team further pledged to stand strong and united in the face of these uncertain times and work for the welfare of the people, businesses and the states.
