Dr Alana Golmei (General Secretary, North East Support Centre and Helpline) was honored with the prestigious Assocham Ladies League (ALL), Grassroots Women of the Decade Achievers Award for setting-up the Northeast Support Centre and 24/7 Helpline to prevent harassment, discrimination, and abuse faced by the people from Northeast India living in metros, particularly women. She received the award from M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty alleviation, who graced the occasion as a chief guest along with Dr. Harbeen Arora, Global Chairperson, ALL at The Leela Palace Hotel, Delhi on Thursday.
Dr. Alana Golmei said "I am humbled and honoured to receive such prestigious award. My heartfelt appreciation and gratitude goes to Assocham Ladies League for recognizing my small contribution for a cause and for giving me this award. I am so happy to come together in this platform with rest of the awardees across the country who are doing amazing work. I hope all these women will draw strength from each other and continue to contribute for a cause."
NESCH came into being in 2007 with an aim to prevent harassment, discrimination, and abuse faced by the people from Northeast India living in metros, particularly women, said Golmei.
Assocham Ladies League honored other 35 exemplary women achievers some of whom include Meera Munda, social activist; Mehvish Mushtaq, first Kashmiri woman App developer; Anar Patel, founder of Gramshree; Chhavi Rajawat, first woman Sarpanch in Rajasthan who left her corporate job for it and others.
ALL is the country’s first all-women industry chamber with a deep commitment to women’s leadership in all aspects of society.
