NE Catholic community in Bengaluru observes Easter Sunday
DIMAPUR — The North East Catholic Community in Bengaluru celebrated Easter Sunday with joy and enthusiasm as the Catholic faithful gathered to commemorate the special occasion of Christ’s resurrection.
According to an update, the liturgy was led by Rev. Fr. Dionysius Vaz SJ, the Jesuit Provincial of Karnataka. The event was held in a peaceful and reverent atmosphere. People from diverse backgrounds, including Catholics, Protestants and others, attended the celebration with a sense of happiness and energy.
The programme included a solemn Holy Eucharistic ceremony and a touching recognition for the outgoing nuns and priests from the North East states. The event was further enlivened by a cultural performance from the Good Shepherd convent boarders and a soulful solo by Jemima Isla.
“The main highlight of the programme was the unveiling of the theme song, composed by Mark D Lawbor and Alexander Pamei, which added to the celebratory ambiance. Edmund and Mercy kept the audience in a high energy spirit. It is worthy to describe that this kind of inclusive initiative is taking place for the first time since its inception in 2009,” the update stated.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Lindsy Thonger.
