NDWM observes ‘International Workers’ Day’

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM), in collaboration with Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID), commemorated ‘International Workers Day’ in Rana bosti on Wednesday.

Speaking at the event, Sr. Pramila, convenor of NDWM, urged the members to acknowledge the ongoing challenges faced by the workers in the world even as they celebrate the progress made in securing the rights of the workers.

“From wage inequality to precarious employment, from unsafe working condition to discrimination, unfair treatment, difference in wage payment and exploitation, there is still much work to be done to ensure that every worker is treated with the respect and dignity every worker deserved,” she said.

She further called upon the members to stand in solidarity with workers everywhere in every field of work, be it small or big, as they contribute for the growth of the economy of the country.

The programme was compeered by ms Shaira, while an invocation prayer was said by Maya and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Archana.

A total of 55 members attended the programme.
