Dimapur, Oct. 10 (EMN): Wokha region of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has thanked the chief minister Neiphiu Rio-led PDA government and all agencies for the prompt and effective steps taken to combat against the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic thereby ensuring to check and control the spread of the virus from day one of the lockdown on March 24 till date.

The Wokha region has also appreciated the PDA government’s proposed consultative meeting with all the stakeholders including mass-based organisations, civil societies, church organisations, political parties, NGOs and prominent persons on the Naga political issue scheduled on October 15 at the banquette hall of the chief minister’s residential complex in Kohima.

This was made known at a joint meeting of the NDPP central executive board (CEB) members and the office bearers of all the four assembly constituencies and frontal chiefs and leaders at the Tourist Lodge, Wokha, on October 8.

An update from the president of NDPP Wokha region, Yanbansao Lotha stated that the NDPP CEB team was led by its general secretary TL Merry as the convener along with vice president YM Humtsoe, general secretary Renbomo Kikon, and secretaries Renbio and Margaret Ngullie as members in-charge of NDPP Wokha region.

The Wokha region also affirmed unflinching support to the leadership of the chief minister Rio, party president and PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak and all the PDA legislators.

The meeting was chaired by YM Humtsoe, while the invocation was delivered by Ethel Murry, vice president of women organisation Wokha region.

It stated that issues on the hardship under Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, Indo-Naga political issue, co-operation and support to the local administration and civil society, and cohesive relation with alliance partners and responsibility of elected members for party works etc. were discussed at length.

The visiting NDPP CEB team also paid a courtesy visit to the deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police, Wokha.

Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, who is also the legislator in-charge NDPP Wokha region, exhorted the party leaders and functionaries.
