Dimapur, April 15 (EMN): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has urged all to refrain from politicising the Covid-19 pandemic during these trying time but to collectively fight against the disease to ensure safety of the citizens.

Urging to let humanity overcome politics and differences, NDPP stated, “it will be most unfortunate and selfish if we take these difficult times to politicise and push forward our political agendas and interests.” NDPP stated this in responds to the statement of the opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) for making personal attacks on the chief minister.

It maintained that the fight against the pandemic needs the collective efforts of each and every individual and not just the efforts of the chief minister and the government of the day.

“While any government is responsible to ensure the safety of the citizens, it also requires the support of the people to fight such a crisis that the world is facing today,” NDPP’s statement through its media and communication committee stated on Wednesday.

NDPP has also welcomed the participation of all the MLAs of the NPF who have positively joined the task forces in their respective districts. It was optimistic that their contributions and valuable experiences would go a long way in strengthening the collective efforts in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

NDPP expressed confidence that the concerns, suggestions and constructive criticism would help in strengthening the efforts being put in to fight the global pandemic. NDPP added that, “it would be most unfortunate and selfish if we take these difficult times to politicise and push forward our political agendas and interests.”
