Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has entered Peren district.
A programme marking the launch of the NDPP was held on Thursday at Jalukie town, updates from the party’s media committee informed on Nov. 30.
The keynote address was delivered by Chingwang Konyak, president of the NDPP Nagaland, to “shed light on the confusion of NPF and NDPP.” He advised rather to concentrate “on strengthening NDPP” and assured to ‘solve the technicalities as when time comes.’
A highlight of the programme was the declaration of support from the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress party of Peren district with the presidents of both the parties submitting ‘declaration of their support to the president, NDPP Nagaland,’ the press release from the NDPP’s press release stated.
Neiba Ndang and Iherie Ndang, both of whom recently joined from national political parties, NCP and Congress respectively, spoke at the event. In the words of the press release they ‘had a similar reason for joining NDPP and that being corruption at all levels by the present ruling government and therefore their hope came in the form of NDPP.’
Alemtemshi Jamir, working president of the NDPP, also addressed the gathering by thanking the people of Peren district for “giving their best warriors” namely Neiba Ndang and Iherie Ndang, to NDPP “in the common fight against all aliments for a better Nagaland.”
Also, Abu Metha, secretary general of the NDPP, was quoted as having pointed that the NDPP was a ‘people’s party’ and people from all over the Naga lands were “equal stake holders of the party and that autocracy, nepotism and VIP culture will not be entertained or practiced by the party.” He promised the people of Peren that in the event of the NDPP coming to power, the “people of Peren will be in the decision making for the development of the state rather than wait for development to come to them.”
The party’s office for Peren region was inaugurated at Lungda Market Complex in Jalukie town, with a ‘small prayer’ and ribbon cutting by Chingwang Konyak, the updates added.
