Dimapur, July 19 EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has lauded the five-point resolution passed by the recently constituted Parliamentary Core Committee on Naga Political Issue, saying that ‘it speaks volumes of the efforts and sincerity of the elected representatives towards bringing about a final settlement to the protracted Naga issue’.

The Parliamentary Core Committee was constituted in June this year with an aim to discuss matters related to the protracted Naga issue and facilitate the ongoing peace talk between the government of India and the Naga political groups. It held its maiden meeting at Rhododendron Hall Chümoukedima in Dimapur on July 9.

In its press communiqué issued on Monday, the NDPP congratulated the chief minister of the state for bringing all the members of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) together in the greater interest of the Naga people.

It also appreciated the Leader of Opposition and all the members of the opposition for heeding to the call for unity, leaving aside politics and cutting across party lines and joining the Parliamentary Core Committee.

“Such understanding and unity of all Hon’ble Members of the NLA for a common goal will definitely bring positive results in our collective efforts to bring about a final solution to the Naga political issue and proves that as leaders they are definitely leading by example,” read the press release.

“At this crucial juncture of the Naga issue, it is imperative that each and every one of us encourage and impress upon the Government of India (GoI) and all negotiating parties to bring about the final solution to a logical conclusion at the earliest. Our leaders are working tirelessly towards realising our dream of wanting a final settlement that is honourable and acceptable to the people,” it added.

The party also appealed to the people of the state to stand in solidarity and support the leaders and continue to uphold them along with the members of the negotiating parties including the GoI in their prayers.

“Just as how our leaders have come together, standing united for our common cause; we as stakeholders must also stand together towards achieving our goal of a final settlement acceptable to all of us,” stated the party.

While expressing its support to the leaders, the NDPP encouraged them to continue their endeavour to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the people.
