“It is further our appeal to all members of the NLA to continue to stand united in pursuing for an early settlement to the Naga political issue and at the same time, ensuring that the resolution passed in the recently concluded session is taken up in letter and spirit,” it read.

It also congratulated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for passing the state budget 2021-22, adding that it was “visionary and path breaking”.

“The special impetus on infrastructure development, innovation and creativity and focus on youth empowerment is commendable and needs to be appreciated by all sections. The budget indicates that the government is constantly strategizing on new ideas and policies to usher in a new era of economic growth and employment generation. Even as we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has undertaken a herculean exercise in ensuring that all sectors have been adequately covered by the budget and the NDPP is confident that the PDA government under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr Neiphiu Rio will continue to deliver to the people justice, development and good governance despite the financial constraints the state is going through,” read the statement.

The NDPP also appreciated the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer for “ensuring the smooth proceedings inside the House and his unbiasedness in dealing with members of both benches of the House. We wish him the very best in the future conduct of the remaining sessions of the 13th NLA,” it added.
