Dimapur, Nov. 07 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has on Tuesday demanded the NPF Farmers Wing President Lanukaba to furnish the detailed names of the persons who were fined by a village council for attending NDPP Mokokchung region consultative meet on Nov. 4 as alleged by the functionary of the NPF.
In a press release appended by the party’s Mokokchung region President N Bendang Jamir and General Secretary S Bendang Aier it stated that the party is shocked to learn about the allegations by a public figure and veteran political leader, who till now was always accorded due respect. It further stated that such unfounded allegations coming from a senior citizen is worrying as it raises the question if the veteran leader is of sound health and mind.
In his speech at the NPF youth wing sit in protest outside civil secretariat Kohima, Lanukaba, who belongs to NPF(Liezietsu) has alleged that 40 persons were fined Rs. 5000 each by a village council for attending the NDPP Mokokchung Region consultative meet, adding that the villagers were taken by NDPP Mokokchung Region General Secretary as there were lesser participants during the meet.
In this regard, NDPP Mokokchung Region stated that the allegations made by Lanukaba has clearly shown that ‘the seeds he sowed will be harvested by him ‘ and asked the former to furnish the detailed name of the village council and the names of the of the persons who were fined within three days from the date of publication.
The statement further alleged that Lanukaba is misleading the general people without any proof and reminded that he was the person who went against the well being of the Nagas when people were fighting for their right against the government to protect ‘Land and against house tax,’ during the ULB agitations.
It also alleged that although Lanukaba is a prominent leader in the NPF party, in almost every general election he has “deserted his party’s candidate” and rather supported other party’s candidate.
