Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Indian National Congress greet the people with wishes that they will live a ‘new and blessed life’ from Christ’s death and resurrection from the dead. The NDPP and the Congress issued separate messages on Saturday. “On the auspicious occasion of Easter, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party conveys its best wishes and warm greetings to the people of Nagaland,” the party’s media cell stated. “The gift of the death and resurrection of Christ our Lord is the noblest gift of all because through His supreme sacrifice the sins of mankind have been taken away. So let us celebrate this day with peace, love and happiness; and may the glory of God, the Son and the Holy Spirit bring us closer to each other as we strive to make our society a better place for ourselves as well as for future generations to come.” “And as we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ our Lord Saviour, let us also thank and praise him for sacrificing himself on the cross to enable us to live a new and blessed life. May the Lord be with you all,” the message added. Congress The president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, also wished every citizen a Happy Easter. “There is nothing greater than the resurrection. Jesus died on the cross so that we have salvation and life even after death. Don’t think you can hide your sins, be it in politics or economics and yet, expect to receive salvation,” Therie stated. ‘Jesus said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”’ Therie expressed ‘worry’ for Christians especially those from Nagaland. “I am worried about Nagaland Christian brothers and sisters more than any other Christians in the world. I don’t know who is free from corruption, who has not compromised with corruption, who is free from accepting political gratification, who is free from paying gratification.” ‘I see everyone thinks of becoming rich through gratification or for free. People think it is the politician’s duty to pay their hospital bills, travel expenses, school admission fees and education, buy vehicles for them, build houses, pay for festival expenses, meetings, food, water and air. This is in reverse to the commandment of God.’ The message stated: God said, “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to dust”. According to the Congress leader, people are not worried ‘where the source should come from.’ “Politicians are forced to sell properties, mortgage their own house in which they live and pay high interest of 60-120% per annum, finally having to give up everything and live in a rented house. Many die of stroke and heart failures while some live a life of torture and regret,” the Congress leader stated. Further, he said, politicians in power have ‘no more sense or vision than to loot or cut shares from development funds while, with due respect to a handful of decent officers, bureaucrats cooperate and get their shares of the cut.’ He stated that “decent officers have fallen out of favour with the corrupt government. This why we don’t see 18,305 crores of 20018-19 budget—it has just vanished.” Therie expressed wish that “every Christian brother and sister repents and become worthy of attending the service to receive the promises of the resurrection.”
