Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): The president of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Chingwang Konyak, has expressed hope that his party’s partnership with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will continue to flourish in the days to come.

On the occasion of the party’s third foundation day, Konyak issued a statement on Saturday.

“It is not often that a political party in its nascent years gets an opportunity to form a government and we are deeply grateful to our alliance partners, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the independent member who have helped establish the PDA government in Nagaland. We are confident that this alliance will only grow stronger with time and that with their unwavering support we will together continue to work for the people of Nagaland for many more years.

“The NDPP also puts on record our appreciation to all the political parties, particularly the principal opposition party, the Naga People’s Front, for playing the role of a responsible opposition and their support to the government in times of crisis especially during this global pandemic of Covid-19,” read the statement.

While extending greetings to the people of Nagaland, Konyak said: “We are grateful to God almighty for having blessed us to run the government for the last two years and express our gratitude to the people for having reposed their faith in the NDPP-led People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government of Nagaland. In the short time since the establishment of the party, much has been achieved but much more is still yet to be done which needs the active participation of all party members and the support and prayers of the people.”

He said that the success of any political party is dependent on the active participation of its members, and thanked all rank and file of the NDPP, from the grassroots to the central headquarters, who till today have been tirelessly working for the success of the party.

“It is because of them that the party stands where it is today and the ever increasing number of members into the party fold is a testament of their dedication and hard work. We also remember those founding members whom we have sadly lost in this short span of time. Their contributions and sacrifices are what made the party come into existence. They may be gone, but they shall never be forgotten.”

Konyak challenged the party members to “once again rededicate ourselves in serving the party and striving to take the party to greater heights. It is also our sincere appeal to the people of the state to continue in giving us their support and good will while building a better Nagaland together”.
