NCYM celebrates youth day at St. Xavier Church Zhavame

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) celebrated its Youth Day on Sunday with the youth of St. Xavier Church, Zhavame village under St. Ignatius Parish, Razeba, Phek district.

The NCYM Day is annually observed on the second Sunday of September across various parishes in the Diocese of Kohima, Nagaland, an update stated.

The event was observed on the theme, ‘Those who hope in the Lord will run and not weary’ (Isaiah 40:31).

The focal point of the celebration was the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Kokto Kurian, director of NCYM. During his homily, he highlighted on hope, service, humility and openness to God’s healing touch.

After the Holy Mass, the session began with presidential greetings from Dr. Rosou Pohena, president of NCYM.

Rev. Sr. Mariam Chothe, MSMHC, lady animator, NCYM, enlightened the youth on the theme. The speaker urged the youth to trust in God’s promises. She challenged the youth to be the channel of hope for others like Moses was for Israelites and Mother Teresa was for India’s poor.

Special numbers from Zhavame Catholic Youth Association and Stephen J Kithan, Vibes chief editor, NCYM, were the highlights of the day.

The event ended with a futsal match between Razeba Parish Youth and NCYM office bearers. The event was anchored by Veronica Nriame, general secretary of NCYM.
