DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers” Union (NCSU) has issued a call to all the contractors in the districts to prepare their equipment for any emergency situations.
“The monsoon season and heavy rainfall have resulted in landslides and flooding in various parts of the state, causing hardships for the residents. The union urges all contractors with equipment to step forward and assist the public in case of any such incidents,” NCSU stated in a press release.
Maintaining that it is important not to solely rely on the government during “these challenging times,” NCSU stated that the monsoon preparedness serves as an opportunity for the union to provide service to the people and contribute to the community.
“Absolutely, it is crucial to be prepared and proactive in order to prevent further inconveniences and tragedies caused by road blockages, rockfalls and landslides. The changing season has brought about severe conditions that have unfortunately resulted in the loss of life,” it stated.
“To ensure that such incidents do not occur again, it is important for us to give our best efforts. This includes being ready with our equipment, actively monitoring and assessing risky areas, and taking necessary measures to prevent or mitigate potential hazards,” it added.
Meanwhile, the union expressed gratitude to Minister of Roads and Bridges G Kaito Aye; Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang; Commissioner and Secretary to Chief Minister, Works and Housing, Kesonyü Yhome, and NHIDCL Executive Director (Nagaland) Amarendra Narayan Singh.
The union said these individuals have taken the time to meet with the union on various occasions and provided their full support in listening to and addressing NCSU’s grievances and concerns.
“The union sincerely appreciates their willingness to prioritise these matters despite their busy schedules. This demonstrates the government’s concern and support for the union. In return, the union pledges its full support to the government whenever it is needed. This mutual cooperation and collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to the betterment of the state and its people,” it added.
