Dimapur, August 13 (EMN): Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has urged the Department of Municipal Affairs to allow the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to dump garbage and waste at the present dumping site till October 2018 ie the stipulated timeframe for completion of solid waste management facility.
The appeal in this regard was made in an emergency public meeting on August 12 held at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur, under the aegis of the Naga Council, Dimapur.
In a representation to the Parliamentary Secretary of Municipal Affairs, NCD president T Bangerloba and the general secretary Thsapongkyu Sangtam mentioned about the triparte agreement that was executed between the State government and Newwaves Bio-feeds India Pvt. Ltd on October 3, 2016, wherein in Paragraph 6 of the terms and conditions, it has been clearly emphasised that the project should be completed within a period of two years.
The representation stated that in the event of failure to complete the project within the stipulated time, the public of Dimapur would not remain mere spectator but will do anything within its power against either the State government or the Newwaves Bio- feeds India Pvt Ltd in the interest of the public and for the ends of justice.
As such it requested the concerned department to enable the DMC to dump its garbage and waste at the present dumping site till October 2018.
In the event of non- cooperation or protest by the Sunrise Colony against dumping of wastage at the present site, it said the public of Dimapur has resolved to proceed for de-recognition of the said colony from the concerned authority.
In the light of the stated circumstances, it urged the concerned department to look into the matters and take necessary action at the earliest, failing which it cautioned to take necessary steps so as to bring justice to the public.
