NCCAF to hold community conserved areas meet

Nagaland CCA Forum members along with the principal and faculty members of Clark Theological College after a coordination meeting in Mokokchung on June 11.

MOKOKCHUNG — The Nagaland Community Conserved Area Forum (NCCAF) along with Kenono Foundation, LEMSACHENLOK, Kalpavriksh, North East Network and the Nature Conservancy will organise a two-day Nagaland Community Conserved Areas Meet on June 19 and 20 at Clark Theological College (CTC), Aolijen, in Mokokchung district on the theme “Camaraderie towards safeguarding our biodiversity.”

The two-day event aims to highlight vision, scope of engagement, experiences and learning of the various collaborative project of NCCAF, informed Ruchinilo Kemp, co-convenor of the meet. The meet would bring together diverse stakeholders including CCAs from different parts of Nagaland, government officials and NGOs.

He also informed that the meet would facilitate networking and foster solidarity of the Nagaland CCAs and create awareness and capacity building on relevant topics related to biodiversity conservation.

The meet would also feature exhibition by various CCAs to create awareness on the bio-cultural diversity of the CCA landscapes and biodiversity and build visibility of the diverse initiatives of NCCAF, CCAs in Nagaland and CCA- supporting organisations and for cross-learning and to inspire actions.

Another co-convenor of the meet, Y Nuklu Phom, added that the meet would have technical and experience sharing sessions and a cultural programme.

The event would be a plastic-free event where all NCCAF registered CCAs in Nagaland would participate.

Some of the topics for the technical and experience sharing sessions would include research, community-led biodiversity surveys and monitoring, synergy between conservation management plans and enterprises/ financial, social equity, carbon mechanism, community reserves and legal and policy issues in Nagaland.
