NCC set to attract youth in remote corners of Northeast India
Meghalaya, April 25 (EMN): The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is set to expand its horizons and reach more young people in the Northeast region, said Major General Bipin Bakshi, VSM, ADG NCC, North-eastern Region.
He said this while addressing the Earth Day event on in Shillong as the chief guest.
To mark the occasion, a mini marathon was conducted by 41 Meghalaya Arty NCC Bty.
Col Rajeev Bagga, Commanding officer, 41 Meghalaya Arty NCC Bty, Lt Wanjop and 7 other cadets along with others took part in the marathon. Subsequently, a thematic cultural programme was organised by the cadets as well as 61 NCC Girls Battalion. The programme was attended by Maj Gen and Mrs Bipin Bakshi along with other dignitaries and 300 cadets of NCC Shillong Gp.
A cultural programme was also presented by NCC cadets on the theme “Save our Earth”.
“The Northeast Today, Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi who recently took charge of the North Eastern region said, “I will look to improve the activities of NCC and spread it to areas where it has not reached. I would like to encourage all NCC cadets to become disciplined citizens, to take part in all the activities, to learn and develop themselves as better human beings and as better citizens,” said TNT report.
He also emphasised on the need to observe such events and said, ” Saving earth is the responsibility of each and every human being and not only the work of NGOs or men in uniform”.
Colonel Bagga also strongly encouraged young people to join NCC and to explore their talents while also getting a chance to serve the motherland while honing their skills.
“NCC is a youth forum in uniform that helps to explore one’s talents and potentials”, the Commanding officer added.
With an aim to encourage and motivate people to follow a sustainable lifestyle while preserving the earth for a better future, 41 Meghalaya Artilary Batterey, under the aegis of NCC Gp HQ Shillong celebrated Earth Day at Army Public School, Shillong on April 25.
Later, Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy was also presented with a memento at his residence which marked the end of an hour long event.
