NCC commander visits Sainik School

Brigadier Surender Singh Dhankhar, Group Commander of NCC, Kohima, being presented guard of honour during his visit to Sainik School Punglwa on July 22.

   Dimapur, July 25 (EMN): Brigadier Surender Singh Dhankhar, Group Commander of NCC, Kohima, visited Sainik School Punglwa on July 22.

On arrival, Brigadier Surender Singh Dhankhar was received by Lt. Col. Kiran Meitei, Officiating Principal, and was presented with a guard of honour by the senior division of NCC cadets of the school. He was briefed about the NCC and its functionaries in the school by the officer commanding, Sanjeev Chaudhary.

The Group Commander also visited the NCC office, academic blocks and school campus.

During interaction with the school NCC cadets, the officer encouraged them to be disciplined and imbibe a spirit of brotherhood. He stressed upon the benefits of NCC and how it could help in the self and professional growth as an individual cadet. He further impressed upon the cadets to join the National Defence Academy.

Lt. Col. Kiran Meitei, Officiating Principal of the school, presented a token of remembrance to the officer on behalf of the school.

The officer is an alumnus of Sainik School Kunjpura, NDA Khadakwasla, Indian Military Academy and prestigious staff college at DSSC, Wellington. He has vast experience in commanding various units and was a qualified senior instructor at HAWS and SFF Academy. The officer is highly decorated and has been awarded GOC-in-C Commendation Card and Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card twice.
