DIMAPUR— As part of annual inspection activity, Brig. PS Sangwan, group commander of Kohima NCC Group, visited Yingli College in Longleng town on March 22. He was accompanied by Col. CST Swamy, Commanding Officer of 25 Naga Bn NCC, Mokokchung.
The group commander was welcomed by the college’s principal, Dr. T Temsu Imti, who also explained on the initiatives undertaken by the college to benefit the student community.
He informed that Yingli College has been classified one of the best performing institutions under 25 Naga Bn NCC for the past few years, an update from NCC Group stated.
In his address to NCC cadets, Brig. Sangwan complimented them for their hard work and dedication towards all NCC activities. Pointing out that Naga students are talented and have good grasp of English language, he said they have better chances of making it to the central government jobs coupled with a significant number vacancies reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
He informed that with the NCC ‘C’ certificate, the cadets are way ahead of others who compete for UPSC and NPSC exams. He, therefore, encouraged them to clear those exams.
He also informed about the special drives carried out by renowned corporate companies like Reliance and SpiceJet to recruit NCC cadets in other parts of the country. He stated that NCC Group Kohima would make efforts to invite such companies to recruit the interested cadets from the hinterland of Nagaland thereby providing additional job opportunities.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Temsu Imti shared about the history of the college and informed the gathering that the college is ranked ‘B+’ by NAAC and stands third in the whole of Nagaland. He advised the cadets to concentrate both on academics and NCC activities so that they are well qualified to be placed in good jobs. He also thanked the Group Commander for visiting the college and motivating the cadets.
Later, Brig. Sangwan also held discussion with the college management on ways to further enhance NCC activities. He also visited the college library and appreciated the huge collection of books including the ‘Digital Library.’
