DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) has extended invitation to all interested chess players to participate in the ‘Chess in School’ (CIS) programme, sponsored by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and organised by the NCA.

The NCA in a press release stated that the CIS programme is aimed at nurturing and developing chess talent in India, particularly in Nagaland.

“Financial support from AICF allows us to offer coaching classes in schools across the state. Coaches will receive compensation based on their coaching workload,” the association said.

“Chess has a rich tradition in India, producing exceptional talents like GM Viswanathan Anand, GM Humpy Koneru, GM Dommaraju Gukesh, GM Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and many others. However, Nagaland is still in its early stages of chess development. We earnestly request all chess enthusiasts to cooperate with us in promoting and developing chess in Nagaland,” it stated.

On the NE Chess Championship 2023 scheduled from October 21 to the 27th at Dree ground, Papu Nallah, Nahargun in Arunachal Pradesh, the NCA informed all the interested players to contact the NCA officials latest by September 28.
