Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): In pursuance to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines which emphasises on reducing the content load and providing opportunities for experiential learning with creative mindset, the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) notified that it has rationalised the topics in the core subjects of Social Sciences, Mathematics and Science for classes 9 and 10 in line with National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) rationalised syllabus.

In a notification, the Board chairperson, Asano Sekhose, informed that the rationalised syllabus would be effective from this academic session (2022).

The contents of the syllabus/ textbooks have been rationalised/ dropped in view of the followings:

  1. Content, which are easily accessible to students and can be self learnt.
  2. Content, which is irrelevant in the present context.
  3. Difficulty level.
  4. Content overlapping with similar content included in other subjects.

All the head of institutions are requested to note the change and disseminate it to their concerned subject teachers so that they could instruct and guide the students properly. The added that rationalised syllabus would be hosted in the Board’s portal www.nbsenl.edu.in and shared in the district WhatsApp groups.

It further informed that the rationalised topics or contents would not be assessed in the final examinations.
