Annual tradition of girls trumping boys in board examinations continue
Dimapur, May 8 (DIPR): The HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2017 commenced from 14th February 2017 to 6th March 2017 where a total of 37918 candidates appeared the examinations. In HSSLC Examination, there is an increase of 964 candidates. It took a period of 50 working days to prepare and declare the results.
A. HSLC Examination 2017:
Out of 22446 candidates, a total of 15754 candidates qualified the examination with a qualified percentage of 70.19 %. The last time the pass percentage crossed 70% or above was in the year 2009.
The girls have again done better with 8178 girls qualifying and 7576 boys qualifying the examination. In the Top 20 list, there are 45 candidates out of which only 13 are boys and the rest i.e. 32 are girls.
72 schools secured 100% qualified/pass percentage, up by 5 in 2016. Out of 72, 66 are private schools and 6 are government schools. This year too, 32 schools have zero/nil result out of which 30 are government schools and 2 private schools.
Since 2012, this year's performance is the best for government schools with a qualified percentage of 42.60.

In terms of district wise performance for government schools, Kohima district again topped the table with a percentage of 57% followed by Mokokchung district at 51%. Longleng district is at the bottom with 7%.
In respect of private schools, Kohima and Phek districts are at the top with a percentage of 86% followed by Mokokchung at 85%.
The number of candidates who secured 80% and above in aggregate is 944, up by 30 from 2016. Out of 944, 13 candidates are from government schools.
B. HSSLC Examination 2017:
This year again, the performance of girls are better than the boys. The girls pass percentage at the HSSLC Examination 2017 stand at 82.21% and the boys at 74.58%.
11(eleven) institutions under Arts stream, 4(four) institutions under Science stream and 4(four) institutions under Commerce stream secured 100% pass result.
1(one) private institution of commerce stream got zero/nil result.
