Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has resolved to reaffirm its stand on the issue of Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act 1989 and impressed upon the government to seriously and practically implement the Act. Consequently, it also resolved to sincerely carry out the ministry towards the alcoholics and related problems.
The resolution to this effect was taken during its 22nd triennial convention held at Baptist College – Shalom Bible Seminary Campus, Sechü – Zubza, from January 29 to the 31st on the theme ‘Stronger together.” The convention was hosted by Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC).
Among others, NBCC also resolved to remain true to its theme “Stronger together” by setting up a friendship fund to help and support the associations in need. It also resolved to cooperate with the medical fraternity and government of the day in the fight against Covid-19 to contain the pandemic, while remaining true to the biblical teaching which is the final authority for the Christians.
NBCC also resolved to strengthen and intensify a clean election campaign to fight against any form of corruption. In this context, it urged the government to bring out clean electoral reform. It also resolved to once again revive God’s original purpose for family (husband, wife and children) in working together in partnership, walking together and fellowshipping together.
Further, it resolved to firmly assert the Christian faith in responding to any counter culture. It, therefore, stated that any policies that are implemented at the cost of compromising Christian faith by organising official events which coincide with Sunday worship would not be entertained by the members of the church.
The speakers of the convention were Dr. Buno Iralu, Dr. Adela Mero, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho and Rev. Dr. Ezamo Murry, an update from NBCC stated on Monday.
It stated that NBCC executive committee meetings and general council business sessions were two important aspects of the convention apart from the evening worship services, Sunday worship service and small prayer group. Another important event, according to the council, was the installation of new NBCC officers. It has appointed Rev. Dr. Atsi Dolie as president, Tialemba Phom as vice president, and Dr. Niholi Shohe as vice president.
Further, during the convention, the council revisited the ANBC– 77/339 (15th October 1977), which referred to “Enlisting of 10, 000 volunteers for the Great Commission Movement of our Lord Jesus Christ.” It mentioned that as of date, there are 1,793 missionaries sent out from Nagaland, 1,832 native evangelists supported by associations, churches and individuals and 21, 041 mission supporters.
It also stated that the Nagaland Missions Movement (NMM), in their survey, has put 2,50, 720 who have volunteered for the Great Commission task from 1977 – 2020.
Meanwhile, the council has acknowledged the host Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), the associations and executive secretaries under NBCC, programme participants, delegates, well-wishers, families and all who contributed toward the success of the programme.
