Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): Continuing with its year-long golden jubilee celebrations, Nagaland Bar Association (NBA) organised a legal awareness programmes in Zunheboto on April 23 at the North Point Prayer Fellowship, SBCZ.
The programme was chaired by convenor of golden jubilee committee, Akito Zhimomi, while the general secretary of Nagaland Bar Association, N Hukavi Zhimomi delivered the introductory speech.
SDO(C), Zunheboto, Temjen Naro, appreciated the various works done by the State Legal Services Authority which had benefited every section of the people.
Chairperson of Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority, Niechochiyi Suyie, thanked the GBs and various NGOs for their participation. He encouraged everyone to know legal rights as it can strengthen them in every step of their lives if they are conversant with legal rights.
President of Zunheboto Area GBs’ Association, Hetoho Yeptho, thanked NSLSA and further encouraged them to organise such programmes on regular basis.
Paper presentations were made by Rainbow Ngullie and Khumchuba Chang on welfare schemes, legal support system and right to health.
NBA secretary, V Hukavi Zhimomi, stated that the programmes were well attended by the respective Deputy Commissioners, GBs, Dobashis, student leaders and community members in both the districts.
Resource person and senior advocate, CT Jamir, spoke on judicial institutions and legal services authority, while the other resource persons spoke on NGOs and the law.
With the launching of the programme first in Peren, NBA has planned to continue its year-long campaign in all districts as part of its jubilee celebrations. The programmes are being organised in collaboration with the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), which has extended support in terms of logistics and other resources.
The second programme was held in Wokha on April 24 at the VDB hall.
