Nazareth School Pfutsero wins girls music band contest

Dimapur, Aug. 4 (EMN): Nazareth School Pfutsero has won the ‘Girls music band competition’ organised by the Phek district administration in collaboration with the District Level Centre for Women (DLCW)- Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek, held at badminton stadium, Phek town, on August 3 on the theme ‘Your voice your strength.’

Girls music band from Government Higher Secondary School, Phek, and St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Meluri, secured first and second runners-up positions respectively.

Addressing the gathering at the grand finale ceremony, Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Sachin Jaiswal mentioned that girls music band competition has made huge impact in spreading the message of education and participation of a girl child, which is one the objective of BBBP.

Speaking on the theme, Veposelu Naroh, DLCW district coordinator, mentioned that the girls music band competition was organised in line with the objective of BBBP. Describing music as a universal language without barrier, she said the competition was organised to give voice to the voiceless adding people can expressed their feelings through music.

She also encourage the girls participants to remember that “they are the voice of a thousand of voiceless girls in our society.”

Certification for successful completion of self defence course in Taekwondo was presented to Residential Girls Hostel, Phek. Poetry recitation by Holy Care School, and special performances by Khrowutso Letro and Vileno Kapu, Aman Kumar Thakur, Kuluvelu Swuro, Samuel Pohena and Meyiete Krome enthralled the audience.

Mezivolu T Therieh, District and Sessions Judge, has appreciated the district administration and DLCW MSK, Phek, for giving a platform to the girls to exposed their talent.

T Lemlila Sangtam, SDO (C) Phek, declared the winners of the competition.

Avikuotho Ngouri, District Coordinate DLCW MSK, Phek, concluded the programme with a vote of thanks.

Panel of judges were Keyirangding Hegui, DRDA Project Director, Phek; Mezivolu T Therieh, District and Sessions Judge, Phek; and Khrowutso Letro, Director Jubal Centre for Music and Arts.

The programme was chaired by Vileno Kapu, Women Welfare Officer, District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek.
