Dimapur, June 21 (EMN): Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) has strongly condemned the act of the Assam Riffles (AR) wherein the latter frisked the private residence of Kezhaleo Rülho at Bayavii colony, Kohima, on June 20 night without any search warrant from the authority concerned when the house owner was out of station attending business matters.
The organisation testified that Kezhaleo Rülho is a Class-I contractor of NPWD/NCSU, a progressing businessman, and a law abiding citizen known till date.
The organisation has questioned motive of the Assam Rifles as they failed to recover any illegal items from the house but rather tarnished the good image of an innocent public, caused mental harassment, terrorised and created fear psychosis to his wife and young children.
NAYO has accused the Assam Rifles of terrorising innocent public instead of providing security.
AR clarifies
Meanwhile, a reliable source from the Assam Riffles headquarters in Kohima told Eastern Mirror that the issue was amicably resolved between the two parties and that it was a normal search that 3 AR carried out on June 20.
“The operation was launched and the two parties have resolved it,” said the source further maintaining that such searches cannot be bypassed due to security information received by the AR.
“The word raid has got a different connotation all together and we take certain action for the common interest of the people; we can’t take chances when we receive inputs,” affirmed the source.
