Nature’s fury at Tuensang village

EMN DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 PADDY fields and irrigation systems in and around Y Anner Village in Tuensang district have been washed away by floods and landslides between May and August this year, adversely affecting hundreds of families. A senior citizen of Shamator H Tokiu Yimchunger in a release said following the nature’s fury, all the families are now very much concerned about their survival. They also appealed to the government to provide them adequate assistance including flood control protection. Y Anner village is an island village surrounded by four rivers which provide adequate local fishes. Its inhabitants own the maximum number of paddy fields among the Yimchunger tribe, with every family having three to four hectares each. The ommunique also said Y Anner village is the first ancestral village of the Yimchunger tribe.
