DIMAPUR — National Youth Day was celebrated on Thursday at St. Xavier College in Jalukie, with Rajya Sabha MP S Phangnon Konyak as the special guest.
Held under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Peren, it also had the presence of Vineet Kumar, DC Peren, and other dignitaries, according to an update.
In her address, Konyak emphasised the various advancements of the nation and encouraged everyone to aspire to be better in alignment with the goals set by the Prime Minister of the country.
She also commended the significant impact of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, over the past many years in society.
On the occasion, the principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis, highlighted the college's ongoing efforts to provide opportunities for the youth of the region and society as a whole. He also proposed new areas of private-public collaboration to improve society in a variety of ways.
The week-long celebrations featured a road safety awareness programme, a cleanliness drive, a declamation contest, a cultural exhibition, and more. The programme also included awards for youth contests as well as meritorious student awards.
It was attended by over 500 youths.
