DIMAPUR — The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), Dimapur District, has expressed strong dismay and disappointment over the continued operation of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) without the appointment of a substantive chairman.

According to the NPYF, this situation raises serious concerns regarding the state government’s commitment to due process, administrative propriety, and institutional integrity.

In a press statement, it stated that the NPSC holds a vital constitutional position in ensuring merit-based recruitment, promotion, and disciplinary administration across the state’s civil and public services. Operating such a pivotal and statutory body without a duly appointed chairman, it said, gravely undermines the Commission’s credibility, transparency, and independence, thereby diminishing public trust in its decisions and processes.

The NPYF expressed concern that despite the absence of a properly constituted leadership, the Commission continues to hold meetings, undertake administrative actions, and make decisions that may lack legal validity. It said such actions contravene the spirit and letter of the Nagaland Public Service Commission Act and relevant constitutional provisions, eroding public confidence in the state’s governance framework.

The NPYF, Dimapur District, has therefore called upon the governor of Nagaland and all concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive action to fully constitute the NPSC by appointing a qualified, competent, and impartial chairman in strict accordance with the law; suspend all major administrative actions or policy decisions undertaken by the Commission pending the regularisation of its leadership structure; and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance, which remain the cornerstone of a functioning democracy and the rightful expectation of the citizens of Nagaland.

It stated that good governance is founded upon respect for institutions and adherence to lawful procedure, not the circumvention of established legal frameworks.
