DIMAPUR — The National People's Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit, commemorated the 79th Independence Day at the party’s headquarters in Dimapur, bringing together state officials, party leaders, and grassroots workers from across the state.

The day’s proceedings began with the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag by K James Vizo, Vice President of NPP Nagaland. In his address, Vizo called upon party members to value the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters, who endured hardship, imprisonment, and even death to secure India’s independence from colonial rule. “Freedom was not gifted to us — it was earned with courage, resilience, and sacrifice. As inheritors of that legacy, we must honor it by serving our people with dedication and integrity,” he said.

Emphasising the uniqueness of NPP’s leadership and its inclusive approach, he highlighted that the party stands committed to protecting the rights of all communities, particularly minorities, while ensuring equitable development across the state. He reminded cadres that unity, discipline, and mutual respect are essential for a political movement to grow strong and credible in the eyes of the public.

“Under the NPP banner, our vision is not limited to speeches or promises. We look to bring tangible development, good governance, and a leadership style that puts people first, just as our party has demonstrated in other states,” the party leader added.

Further, he urged party workers to embody values of love, humility, and service, becoming role models in their respective localities.

Following the flag hoisting, Ranjit Singhvi, General Secretary (IPR & Spokesperson), addressed the members, stressing that the strength of a political organisation lies in its internal coordination and discipline. He encouraged every unit — from state to district to grassroots — to work in perfect synergy to realize the party’s political objectives, with each member upholding party protocols and principles.

State Secretary Khehoshe Sema also spoke, reminding the gathering that as a party deeply rooted in Christian values, members should seek God’s guidance in all undertakings. He called upon the cadres to reflect the qualities of truth, justice, and service in their daily actions, both in politics and in personal life.
