Imphal, Sep. 1 (EMN): TheNational Nutrition month also known as Rashtriya Poshan Maah was formally launched widely in Manipur along with the rest of the country.

At the launching of the month-long observation, Deputy Commissioner A Subhas Singh of Thoubal district flagged off a rally of Anganwadi workers and helpers, ASHA, VHSNC and ANM from DC Complex at Thoubal which culminated at Thoubal Mela ground.

Flagging off the rally, the DC said that during this month-long celebration, various programmes related to women and children including health check-ups would be held in various parts of the district. He said coordination and cooperation of various departments like ICDS, Health department and ZEO is important for the successful implementation of the celebration.

In Bishnupur district, Poshan rally was held from Mini Secretariat complex till Bishnupur Bazaar to raise awareness on the importance of nutrition to infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to mark the launch of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022.

The Poshan Maah celebration will be observed in all the sub-divisions of Senapati district focussing on various activities under the following themes-Mahila and Swasthya, Bacha and Shisha- Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi, Gender Sensitive water conservation and management and Traditional foods for women and children in tribal areas.

As part of the programme, a mass rally was also held from Old DC Office to Mini Secretariat complex in Senapati district carrying placards like ‘Eat Good Food’, ‘Work Hard Think Hard Eat Right’, ‘Always Eat Right’, ‘Good Nutrition is Our Mission’, ‘You are what you eat’, ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi,’

 ‘Rashtriya POSHAN Maah’ is celebrated each year in the month of September with the aim to create awareness about nutrition and healthy food. Poshan Abhiyaan 2022 is aimed to make India malnutrition free by 2022 by providing adequate nutrition to infants, pregnant women and lactating mothers, covering all states, districts and towns.
