Dimapur, Jan. 23 (EMN): A National integration tour for students of Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh to Mumbai and Pune was flagged in on Jan. 22 at Longding. The Longding Battalion of the Indian Army under the aegis of Dao Division flagged off the tour on Jan. 10, stated an update from the PRO (Defence) on Wednesday.
The team comprising of 10 boys, 10 girls and two teachers was selected from different schools of Longding district. The 12-day long educational-cum-motivational tour was conducted with the aim of connecting youth of Northeast with other parts of country and also to give the students of the district an exposure to the diversity of India.
During the national integration tour, the students visited important monuments like Gateway of India, Hotel Taj Mahal, Elephanta Caves and Nehru Planetarium in Mumbai. In Pune the students visited National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla, Aga Khan Palace, TATA Motors Factory and Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park. The national integration tour was flagged in by Major General Rajendra Sachdev, GOC, Dao Division at Longding on Jan. 22. He interacted with children who had numerous stories of their joyful experiences to share. It was the first occasion for many children to travel outside the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
It was a memorable experience for the children who will encourage them to venture out and explore different fields. The parents and teachers of the students expressed their gratitude towards Indian Army for giving an opportunity to their wards to visit the country.
