- IMPHAL — Manipur-based
National Institute of Technology (NIT) has been awarded accreditation for
including capacity building programme on design and entrepreneurship (CBDE)
cell under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Program (MMTTP) initiatives of
NEP 2020 of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
- The Under Secretary of MoE, Ramesh Kumar Sharma, has written
to Indian Institute of Information Technology for Design and Manufacturing
(IITDM) Kancheepuram Chennai in this regard.
- Thus, NIT Manipur becomes the 45th institute in the country
to achieve such creditable accreditation.

- It may be noted that the objective of the CBDE programme,
which is a component of MMTTP, is to enhance the capacity of faculty and higher
educational institution for creative transformation with a specific focus
towards design and entrepreneurship development.
- The director of NIT Manipur, Prof. DVLN Somayajulu, and the
registrar, Prof. Kh Tomba Singh, have thanked the Ministry of Education and
Malayiya Mission Teacher Training Centre CBFI IITDM Kancheepuram, Chennai, for
granting the CBDE centre accreditation to NIT Manipur.
- They also congratulated the efforts of the CBDE team members
of NIT Manipur namely associate professor, CE (principal investigator) Dr.
Ngangbam Romeji; assistant professor, ECE (co-principal investigator) Dr.
Vandana Wangkheirakpam; assistant professor, CE (member) Dr. Nabajit Sarkar;
and assistant professor, ME (member) Dr. Ashutosh Kumar for the accomplishment.
- With the achievement, NIT Manipur is expected to propel its
institutional performance and NIRF rankings in future.
