National Cycling C’ship concludes

IMPHAL, December 8

With 5 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze medals, Manipur bagged second position in the 66th Senior, 43rd Junior and Sub-Junior Track National Cycling championship 2013 which concluded at the Cycle Velodrome at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal on Sunday afternoon.Kerala tops the medal tally with 16 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals while Haryana bagged third position with 5 gold,1 silver and 3 bronze medals which was followed by Punjab with 4 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Cyclist Debola of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was adjudged as the best cyclist of the champion. She won 3 gold and 1 silver.
Altogether 344 cyclists and officials representing 21 teams and Cycling Federation of India participated in the tournament. Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Parliamentary Secretary for youth affairs and sports M Prithviraj Singh were the chief guest and functional president of the closing function. Public health and engineering department I Hemochandra, Agriculture minister Md Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary secretary for information and public relations department K Meghachandra were the guests of honour.
