Two militants killed in J&K as Army foils infiltration bid
Srinagar, Sep. 16 (IANS): Two militants were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday and a huge stash of arms recovered as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC). The militants were killed in Machil sector of the LoC where infiltrators from Pakistan administered Kashmir tried to enter the valley, the Defence Ministry sources said. “Two terrorists have been killed. Alert troops of the Army foiled the infiltration bid. Weapons and warlike stores have been recovered from the slain terrorists,” the sources said.
Main litigant in Ayodhya case dead
Ayodhya, Sep. 16 (IANS): Mahant Bhaskar Das, the main litigant in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case, passed away here in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. He was 89. Das, the head of Nirmohi Akhada, was a petitioner in the case since 1959. He was admitted to a private medical facility on Tuesday following breathing problems where he later suffered a brain stroke. The seer will be cremated at the Tulsi ghat in Ayodhya later on Saturday, close associates told IANS. Doctors had earlier advised that he be taken to a super-speciality hospital either in Lucknow or Delhi. However, the ageing priest refused to leave the temple town.
Four dead, eight critically injured in UP road accident
Lucknow, Sep. 16 (IANS): Four persons, including two children, died and eight received severe injuries when a speeding mini-truck hit a cab returning from a marriage in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, police said. Besides the eight critically injured, over a dozen others also sustained injuries in the accident that took place in Gandhi Park area,. However, they were said to be out of danger. According to police, the cab was carrying the family members of the groom Afroz, a resident of Nagla Patwari in Hamdard Nagar locality.
Two MP boys end life, one suspected to be ‘Blue Whale’ victim
Datia, Sep. 16 (IANS): Two teenaged boys committed suicide by hanging themselves in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Saturday. One of the two is suspected to have fallen prey to the infamous Blue Whale game, they said. “As there are injury marks on his arm, we suspect it to be a case of death due to Blue Whale game. He was probably trying to finish the task of the game and we are investigating on this very line,” Kotwali Police Station Incharge Ajay Bhargav said. In the same police station limits, Class XI student Shiv Dangi also hanged himself. The initial probe suggests he ended his life over some monetary dispute, according to the police officer.
Major blaze engulfs RK Studios
Mumbai, Sep. 16 (IANS): A major fire broke out in the famed RK Studios in Chembur here on Saturday afternoon, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Control officials said. At least 11 fire tenders and ambulances have reached the studio and are battling the blaze that has gutted one of the main shooting venues. There were no immediate reports of casualties and the conflagration was confined to electrical wiring and installations on a 800-square feet ground floor area in the studio.
