DIMAPUR — Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan was launched in Tuensang during a programme held at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office on Wednesday.
Speaking on the programme, the deputy commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, informed that it is an awareness programme for a drug-free India and a much needed programme as the high usage of drugs is affecting the economic as well as socials life in the district.
She appealed to the church leaders and NGOs to support in identifying the person for detoxification and rehabilitation of the addicts, stated a DIPR report.
The superintendent of police, Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, informed that intake of drugs has increased in the district and the problem of drug users would be tackle with one good team focusing mainly on the supplier. He has suggested for the drug-free model village in the district in order to good example for others.

Dr. Imli Temsu Ozukum, CMO of Tuensang, stated that many diseases occurred due to substance abuse leading to financial losses. He also informed that the District Hospital Tuensang has de-addiction centre where many patients have been treated minimising the drug users to some extent.
The programme was chaired by T Longlang Luckpan, DWO, and invocation was said by Rev. H Sangkap, pastor of TTBL.
