Narcotics worth over INR 9 cr. seized at Khuzama, one arrested
DIMAPUR — Excise personnel at the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized an estimated INR 9.66 crore worth of heroin and arrested a Manipur resident on September 29.
According to an update, the personnel from Kohima Excise, while inspecting an Assam-registered vehicle at around 8:30 am, discovered 161 soap cases filled with approximately 1.6 kilograms of heroin concealed within the vehicle. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is INR 9.66 crore, it was claimed.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as KH Pavei, a resident of Phaibung Khullen in Senapati, Manipur, was taken into custody and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
The operation was conducted by a team of Excise personnel led by Kezhasolie AIE. Other officials involved in the seizure and arrest were Khesangmew AIE, Khrovotso H/c, Nganwang E/c, Rokovikho E/c, Kevibuo E/c, Mhao Lotha E/c, Nyimtsemo E/c, and Rose L/c, it said.
