A total of 63 trainees were conferred certificate along with machinery and tool on completion of the training course during a programme which was held this morning at the Pusa and Savino Training Centre, Jharnapani.
Department of Under Developed Agency (DUDA), under the central scheme of Border Area Development Programme (BADP), has distributed machines/ tools to successful candidate on completion of three months vocational training on bamboo/ wood crafts, tailoring and mechanized stone masonry at Pusa & Savino Training Centre in Jharnapani today. The programme was initiated with an aim to provide employment assistance to the unemployed youth in border areas.Addressing the valedictory function cum distribution of machines/ tools to the trainees, the chief guest and Advisor DUDA, Naiba Konyak has encouraged the trainees to make use of the benefits provided by the centre and persevere to be self reliant.
Naiba Konyak also challenged the trainees to prove themselves worthwhile by striving to receive the prestigious ‘Governor’s Award’ through hard work with the machineries provided by the DUDA. He said the main purpose of implementing such programme for youth from border areas was to impart training so that they could earn their livelihood through self employment without depending on their parents and government. He said the training was initiated more importantly to upgrade their skills as the youth in the rural area fails to identify and utilize their talent.
Naiba Konyak also advised the trainees to put in little effort by taking utmost advantage of the resource which are easily available in abundance free of cost.
TC Sangtam, Commissioner and Secretary of DUDA, in his welcome speech, has advised the trainees to strive for economic prosperity by utilizing the skills provided during the training for a better livelihood.
MLA Issac, who was also present during the function, foresees changes in border areas through such training. He has encouraged the trainees to aim for small earnings initially and to help themselves to stand on their own without the government or the parents help.
It may be mentioned here that DUDA, since 2007, has been actively sponsoring trainees from the border areas at Pusa and Savino Training centre where hundreds of uneducated youth have successfully established business in their respective areas.
On the occasion, trainees were rewarded with machines/ tools along with certificates.
