Nagi defends WAYO wrestling championship title

Kohima, Jan. 24 (EMN): Mhasilhousie Nagi defended his title by winning the 56th Wrestling Meet of the Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) held at Khouchiezie local ground, Kohima on Friday.

The 27-year-old from Jotsoma village, who weighs 95 kg and measures 5.10 feet in height, lifted the title for the second time and walked away with a cash prize of INR 80,000.

Meanwhile, second position holder Zasevikho Meyatsu of Mezoma village (weights 88 kg and 5.9 feet tall) pocketed INR 60,000. Kevizhakho Suokhrie from Jotsoma village (weights 79 kg and 5.8 feet tall) was awarded INR 40,000 for winning the third prize and fourth position holder Megosier Khate of Khonoma village (weights 95 kg and 5.10 feet tall) received INR 30,000.

In the under-16 category, Vilhousielie Kehie of Mezoma village won the wrestling title and received INR 10,000, while second prize winner Kedovozo Nakhro of Jotsoma village was awarded INR 7,000. Third position holder Kekhrievilhou Sirie of Mezoma village and fourth position holder Rokosevi Khate of Khonoma village received INR 5,000 and INR 3,000 respectively.

Earlier in the programme, MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro attended the wrestling tournaments as chief guest and the president of Western Angami Public Organisation, Kevisekho Chücha was the guest of honour.
