Dimapur, Sep. 3 (EMN): President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu on Friday said that the Naga people should have one voice for a peaceful and honourable solution to the Naga political issue.

He was speaking at the inaugural programme of NPF Manipur state unit head office at Senapati town in Manipur.

On the concept of opposition-less government in Nagaland, he said that the coming together of legislators of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was “nothing but a sign of unity to press for an early resolution to the Naga political issue”, according to the party’s press communiqué.

While maintaining that political parties were only facilitators, he said the move was a “new exercise and experiment to have one voice for the larger interest of the Naga people”.

The NPF president also said that the party’s existence in all the Naga-inhabited areas is a platform for all Nagas to be emotionally integrated though not politically integrated yet.

He said that the new office at Senapati would remain a source of strength not only for the party but also for the Naga people and would “stand as a sign of oneness”.

The NPF Manipur State Unit (MSU) president, Awangbow Newmai, who is also a minister in Manipur government asserted to work for an early solution to the Naga political issue. “Nagas have nothing to fear, as we are seeking only our rights,” he was quoted as saying, adding that ‘if the government of India rejects the Naga issue, it’s like rejecting the Naga people’.

On the Manipur state Assembly election, which is due early next year, as well as the ADC election, the minister said the party was prepared and confident of performing “much better”.

He also asserted to carry forward the aspiration and motto of the NPF party for the betterment of the Naga people.

NPF MLA Vikheho Swu, who is the MLA in-charge of Manipur state, said that the party was launched in the state with a vision to bring the Nagas living in the hill areas under one umbrella in order to highlight and develop the socio-economic development, culture, environment and identity.

Secretary General of the party, Achumbemo Kikon told the gathering that NPF is a party with difference that represents the sentiment and aspiration of the Naga people and stands for peaceful co-existence with every society.
