Nagas must learn to live together: Pukhayi

PARLIAMENTARY Secretary for Cooperation and Sericulture, PukhayiSumi while emphasizing on the need for Nagas to learn to live together, today called upon the students’ community to take the initiative in promoting good relationship within the Naga family. Addressing the Silver Jubilee Launching-cum-Freshers’ Meet of Yimchungrü Students’ Union Kohima (YSUK) on the theme “A leap to perfection” at State Academy Hall, Pukhayi said Nagas being a small society cannot afford to continue to divide Nagaland into any alternate Nagaland. He therefore called upon Naga people to uphold the good relations and learn to live together.
Maintaining that students are tomorrow’s leaders to take the society forward, he encouraged them have faith upon themselves, be sincere and dedicated with determination to achieve their goal in life.
He exhorted the younger generation not to indulge in any form of evil habits prevalent in the society, which would ruin their lives. He also attribute the prevalent evils in the society to the increasing number of school drop outs in the State.
Dwelling on the theme of the day, he said ‘a good plan for today is better than a perfect plan for tomorrow.
Short speeches were also delivered by YSUK president A. KhiungmongYim; YimchungrüAkherüArihako president Akiuba and Convenor Silver Jubilee Planning Committee and ENPO Vice President, KekongchimYimchungrü while Azhihba from Kohima Science College spoke on behalf of the freshers.
Pastor of YBCK Longri Nungti said the invocation, ShojilaLachim pronounced the benediction while YSUK general secretary Z. Mükamchim tendered the vote of thanks. Tsükhumla and KümridoNungti enthralled the gathering with special numbers.
During the day debate competition was also held wherein BungkiuKüsün of Kohima Science College was adjudged the best speaker. Bungkiu along with Esther of Model HSS Kohima was declared Mr& Miss YSUK 2014.
