Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): An Annual meeting of Tirap-Changlang and Longding People’s Forum (TCL PeF) was held in Deomali on July 27. Hundreds of people from all walks of life from the Naga inhabited areas of Tirap-Changlang & Longding district participated in the meeting.
A new team of office bearer were unanimously selected for the terms 2017-2021. Ngurgtim Changrni as president, Wintung Bosai and Tupkam latnya as Vice President, Hangilam Sumiyan as General Secretary, Dangiung Salnang Mungrey as Chairman Finance Committee and Nongming Kamba Longchang as Secretary Administration and host of other office bearers representing each and every Constituencies/ Block/ Segment were selected for new terms.
The meeting was attended by Wangki Lowang Minister Agriculture, P.Khimhun, Parliamentary Secretary Hydro power, L Simai, Parliamentary Secretary Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs and Thong Aboh M.LA and Jumsen Matey former M.LA and many prominent leaders Zilla Parishad chairperson, Zilla Parishad members, other Panchayati Raj Institution members, social workers, intellectual, community leaders, village chief and GBs, students community, Indigenous Faith Society and Church leaders.
Other Legislature who couldn’t participate due to pre assignment and other personal issues send their representatives on their behalf.
N.Changmi who was selected a new President for the incumbent post thanked the house for affirming faith on him. He also assured the house that he and his new team will put all the best of their efforts for the welfare of the Nagas and other minority groups of CTL districts.
He mostly emphasised on the importance of the unity and quoted that “unity is strength; when there is team work and collaboration, wonderful thing can be achieved” and urged the Naga community irrespective of gender and faith to extend full cooperation and support in endeavour to protect, prevent and preserve their land , culture and identity.
In a press note, organisation president, N Changmi stated that many other resolutions adopted during the TCL PeF meeting. “The prominent ones are to press both the State and Central Government for all round development of the three districts in the field of education, sports, infrastructure, industries and border huts etc,” stated Changmi. It also stress on the need to protect the Naga culture , customs and religious practice as it Is fast diminishing among today’s youth added Changmi.
It was also decided that a team will soon go to New Delhi to press the Central Government to grant special fund to improve the poor infrastructure in two government colleges in Changlang and Deomali and also to sanction one more college for newly created Longding district. Special fund would also be demanded to encourage Naga culture, custom and religious practice of TCL district stated Changmi.
The Forum also decided to monitor the ongoing project undertaken by different departments for its quality works and completion on a time bond manner. “It also took a serious note on poor infrastructure and development which are going on snail pace and low quality of work in spite of having spent sufficient fund and time by the concern department.”
“The other important issue was to press govt of India for early solution to the Indo-Naga peace talk.” He also stated that “other members also opinionated that the Indo-Naga peace talk has been dragged on for too long and it must be brought to a logical conclusion at the earliest.”
“The meeting unanimously resolved not to accept any solution without involvement and proper consultation with the Tirap-Changlang-Longding Peoples Forum.” “For the past several decades, Nagas of Tirap-Changlang-Longding has faced untold suffering and lost many precious lives and we still continue faced multi-faceted problems because of which the development in TCL district has taken a back seat” he stated.
Further he stated “The number of unemployed youths are getting multiplied every year, no job opportunities has been created, fund which are sanction for the three districts are too little to see development.” “Therefore, unless a course correction is made immediately we are going to hit the wall very soon.” “We cannot effort to jeopardise our future and the future of the coming generation and hence, the same attitude cannot be continued for ever and must be brought to an end.” “Both the State and the Central Government will be urged to make a serious effort to bring real time peace and development of the people, which can only restore the faith of the people of TCL district and the TCL PeF is duty bond to protect and fulfilled the desire and the aspiration of the Nagas of three district.”
