Nagas from Uttarakhand leave for Nagaland

Kohima, May 31 (EMN):
A total of 101 stranded Nagas from Uttarakhand have started their homeward journey on May 31 and are expected to reach Nagaland on June 3.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, president of Naga Students’ Union Dehradun (NSUD), Jubika A Yepthomi stated that the stranded Nagas, comprising mostly of working people and students, have started their journey on Sunday morning at 2:30 am from Dehradun and Kashipur in four buses.

Yepthomi also stated that prior to the departure from Dehradun, NCF pastor Along, elders of Naga Christian Fellowship (NCF), Dehradun, and student leaders offered a special prayer for the journey. He informed that returnees were provided packaged food items prepared by the NCF mothers.

NSUD has thanked the Nagaland government for providing the bus. It further urged the people to uphold them in prayers for their safe journey.

Meanwhile, one of the returnees Chinpong Konyak informed this newspaper at 6:30 pm that they have had reached Shajahanpur. He said, “although it is going to be long journey by road, I’m happy to be returning home.”

Konyak also informed that everyone in the bus till evening were doing fine. He also told that the bus ferrying them was comfortable.

A forestry student, Roko, also updated in the evening that they had started their journey early in the morning with a short break earlier during the day. He said, “Till now everyone inside the bus is fine and are excited as we moves closer to home, although it is going to be an exhaustive journey,” Roko said.
