Wokha, Jan. 18 (EMN): In what would help enhance power supply in the state, the Power department on Tuesday inaugurated 12 projects located in various districts.

Advisor for Power, H Tovihoto Ayemi said that such projects would help the department in providing uninterrupted power supply to the consumers, while urging the people to ‘generously’ donate land for development so that various departments can take up more projects for the benefit of the public.

He was speaking during the inaugural programme of a 132/33KV, 25 MVA transformer and its bay equipment at 132/33KV Wokha sub-station, and 11 other projects — downstream connectivity elements — constructed under Nerpsip Tranche-1.

The advisor appealed to the people to check power theft, make timely payment of electricity bills and initiate awareness programmes to conserve electricity for common cause.

He also thanked the department officials, Powergrid, Technogrid and others involved in completing the projects and handing them over to the people.

He added that the pandemic had delayed some projects but work was in progress and would be completed ‘very shortly’.

Guest of Honour, MLA Dr. Chumben Murry, in his address said that development comes with ‘funding and resources’ and called for effective revenue through proper bill payment.

To meet the needs of the people, he said that it is the duty of every individual to know their rights as well as their responsibilities like paying bills to improve revenue.

Nribemo Mozhui, Engineer-in-chief (Power), called for judicious use of power and spoke on revenue loss by the Power department due to reckless activities and theft.
