Nagaland’s food safety efforts recognised at Global Food Regulators Summit
DIMAPUR — At the recent Global Food Regulators Summit in New Delhi, Nagaland received recognition for its food safety practices, outperforming other north-eastern hilly states.
“Nagaland has bagged an award in Special Recognition for its overall performance on various parameters of food safety in State Food Safety Index 2023-24. Among the North Eastern Hilly States, Nagaland is the lone awardee”, stated an update from the DIPR on Tuesday.
The Global Food Regulators Summit was held from September 19 to the 21st.
The update stated that the index assesses states and union territories based on factors such as human resources and institutional data, compliance, food testing infrastructure and surveillance, training and capacity building, consumer empowerment, and FSSAI initiatives.
The index is a dynamic, quantitative and qualitative benchmarking model that provides an objective framework for evaluating food safety across the country, it added.
