Dimapur, April 26 (EMN): Advisor for Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Industries and Commerce, Imnatiba, inaugurated a training centre developed by Global Peers Skilling and Development Initiatives Pvt. Ltd. at Sovima in Dimapur on Monday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Imnatiba lauded the institute stating that the trainings offered were ‘very relevant today’, an update read. He appreciated and encouraged the skill trainers to be sincere in their work. He said that few Nagas speak about ‘getting skilled or getting their children skilled as their first preference is to get a government job to get salary even without work’.
However, he said such dreams were outdated as ‘even existing government jobs were beyond requirement’. He mentioned that when a house is built, the construction workers earn a considerable amount besides the money spent on materials. He, therefore, encouraged the trainees to form small groups and work with dignity to make a good life for them in the state and become role models in their respective districts, it stated.
It informed that the training centre was the first of its kind in the state and offered courses in construction works like plumbing, electrician, painter and decorator, tiles, mason, and bar bender.
The courses are sponsored by the government under the DDU-GKY skilling and placement initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development and Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission. CEO of Global Peers, Rohit Chandra said that the company had already started receiving positive responses from within and outside the state. He stated that the company would employ many of the trainees from an American construction company currently building the US embassy in India, it read.
