Nagaland’s Covid-19 tally inching towards 12000-mark as 5 new cases detected

Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): Nagaland’s Covid-19 tally has touched 11,935 with five more cases detected on Monday, according to an update from minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom.

‘Five positive cases of Covid-19 were detected today (Monday); two each in Dimapur and Kohima and one in Mon. Also, nine active positive patients have recovered from Kohima,’ tweeted the minister. 

According to the information provided by the Health department, Nagaland currently has 173 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 148 are asymptomatic, 17 mild, three moderate on oxygen, one severe on oxygen and four on ventilators. The state has also recorded 11,551 recoveries and 79 deaths, out of which 10 are ‘not Covid-related’.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active Covid-19 cases, Dimapur leads with 73 cases, followed by Kohima-54, Mokokchung-40, Peren-4, and one each in Kiphire and Mon, while Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Tuensang and Longleng have zero cases.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry updated that the daily new cases in India are on a sustained decline, recording only 16,504 new cases in the last 24 hours against 19,557 recoveries. It added that India’s active caseload has fallen to 2,43,953 and the total recovery is nearing 99.5 lakh.

With 214 new fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, the country’s death toll increased to 1,49,649, according to the data provided by the Centre. It went on to inform that a total of 38 samples have been found to be positive with the new U.K variant genome in India and the patients have been kept in single room isolation in designated Health Care facilities by respective state governments besides putting their close contacts under quarantine.
