Nagaland’s Covid-19 sample positivity rate below 5% for 3 weeks

Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): Nagaland saw a marginal increase in Covid-19 weekly sample positivity rate from 1% to 1.4% during the week ending March 11 after detecting 28 new cases from 2027 samples tested, compared to 22 cases in the previous week.

Five districts — Mon, Peren, Phek, Tuensang and Zunheboto – didn’t record any new cases during the past week.

The sample positivity rate has remained below 5% for the past three weeks in the state, according to weekly bulletin issued by the department of Health and Family Welfare.

The state also didn’t record any Covid-19 fatalities during the past week, while the total number of deaths registered in the third or Omicron wave was 36. As many as seven new Covid-19 hospital admissions were reported from Covid-19 hospitals in the past week.

The update also informed that 23% of symptomatic cases were classified under “severe category” in the first wave, 27% in the second or delta wave and 13% in the third wave.

More than 15.64 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across all age

groups and 23,479 people have received the third or precautionary dose in the state so far.

“At this stage of transmission, the Department of Health abd Family Welfare recommends use of mask in public places and Covid-19 vaccination to avoid more deaths or hospitalisations,” read the weekly bulletin.
